Are you a student interested in making a difference in your community? Do you enjoy addressing public issues? Maybe you want to work for the government or even a non-profit organization. All of these options are available to you when you choose to enter into a Public Administration Degree. Public Administration courses provide you with knowledge and skills to prepare you for careers in public or non-profit organizations.
There are a number of credited hours that one must complete in the Public Administration Program. The amount of credited hours depends upon the school you go to. Typically the units consist of required core studies, electives, upper division courses and either thesis or project work. The courses can be offered in different areas such as economics, social work, sociology, and political science. Some of these courses consist of Administrative Research Methods, Public Policy and Analysis Evaluation, Program Formulation, Public Budgeting and more. Prior to enrolling in some classes, you will be expected to complete prerequisites.
The purpose of the classes is to prepare you for a career in government and community organizations. You will learn about local, state, and national government; the economy and how it works; and social issues that effect you and your community.
