Program: Course work examines the basics of two-dimensional design and three-dimensional thinking; the study of space planning and human factors in design; colour, lighting and material knowledge; and historical reference. Visual communication skills are developed and perfected to transmit our ideas into reality for our clients. Technical drawing skills begin with manual drafting, leading to AutoCAD, R2000 competency in the second year. Students relate design theory and conceptual skills to the development of simple one room and minimal dwellings to complex residential, retail, corporate, and hospitality projects intended for diverse social and economic populations throughout the two-year program.

A degree in interior decorating offers the practical knowledge to enable you to use your talent and creative tendencies and put them to work. Self-employed interior decorators can earn more than $100,000 or more per year plus a great deal of job satisfaction. You will meet interesting people, and work in many beautiful, interesting environments and perhaps most importantly your interior decorating "work" will be fun, interesting, and personally rewarding; you can make your visions a reality.
Interior decorating classes teach all aspects of interior design including trade secrets. You can experiment with form, space, texture and color and learn concepts of décor and the latest in interior fashion. Students are expected to develop design concepts for interior spaces, and transform these concepts into practical, functional, and innovative environments that meet client needs.
The average classes cover space planning, lighting, color, arrangement, window, wall and flooring treatments, period furniture, furniture buying, textiles, projects, painting techniques and much more. Participants will know how to plan spaces and sketch and draft a final floorplan so they can create their own beautiful spaces.
Today’s interior decorating classes use the most up-to-date methods to prepare tomorrow’s interior decorators. Architectural drafting, space planning, and computer-aided design are used to develop new concepts and to refine students' individual skills and talents.
There are classes and courses right across the USA, many of which also include an internship to give students practical experience and to prepare you for an entry level position in the exciting, rewarding world of interior design.
