A Public Relations degree will teach you about the public and media, enhance writing and speaking skills, and provide you with the tools to persuade.
The curriculum for a Public Relations degree entails lower and upper division classes and extensive hours in an internship. Some lower division classes consist of Introduction to Advertising, Mass Communications and Society, Beginning New Writing, and Press and the Public while a writing workshop, in Mass Communication, Laws of Ethics of the Media, Writing for Pubic Relations and Global Mass Communication are part of the upper division courses. When opting for a Degree in Public Relations, it is highly recommended for students to select a minor in Management and Marketing or Speech Communications.
The Public Relations degree is meant to give students who are about to embark on a career the skills and tools to communicate effectively and persuasively. The purpose is to teach you how to build and maintain relationships with the public for it will be basis of success in a firm.
